Discover an oasis in the Kalahari of Botswana not far from the famous Okavango Delta - a luxury retreat called Deception Valley Lodge – which accommodates up to sixteen guests only. The lodge is private and restful, with each raised nit standing separately, but connected to the main lodge by wooden walkways – thus protecting the eco-sensitive area.
6 of the 8 units have luxury twin rooms, with private lounge, and en-suite bathroom, and an outside shower. The remaining two units have inter leading rooms. In order to add to guest comfort, each unit is also provided ceiling fan, mosquito net, hairdryer, shaving plugs and bathrobes. A private mini-bar ensures that refreshments are available at all times. After a night-cap, turn in for a peaceful sleep in these comfortable and safe surroundings.
The main lodge complex comprises dining room, lounge and bar area decorated in warm Kalahari colours making use of San artefacts. From the deck you can view activities at the nearby water hole.
An inviting swimming pool is situated close to the main complex, and there is also a boma for evening meals – which allows guests a safe and comfortable meal under the vast canopy of stars.
What makes Deception Valley Lodge unique is them rare opportunity to explore this remarkable environment with San guides – perhaps the oldest living group of people in Africa.
Other activities at Deception Valley Lodge include afternoon and night drives in custom built game viewing vehicles, which allows guests the chance to see lion, cheetah, leopard, giraffe, kudu and, if lucky, the elusive brown hyena. The night drives in particular will reveal a fascinating world of nocturnal activity. Deception Valley is also bird lover's destination, with over 200 species identified in the area.
In addition, the lodge has just launched the Kalahari Manor suite, which has brought in a new level of comfort and exclusivity. The Manor comprises 2 master bedrooms (both en suite), with a large, open-plan lounge. There is also a covered veranda which extends the entire length of the suite. The Manor is run independent of the main Lodge, and thus has its own kitchen, and chef. Guests also have their own butler. Activities are all offered on a private basis, and you have a private vehicle (with guide, and San tracker). You can enjoy personalised and varied activities: game drives, sunset drive, night drive, bush walk and Bushman walking.
